I have a three year old Windows laptop and have been thinking about replacing it with a newer model. I recently realized though that my laptop spends 90% of its life on my desk in the office. I travel once or twice a month, but other than that it's plugged into a monitor/keyboard/mouse on my desk. I've decided I can just keep my current laptop for trips and buy a new desktop for work.
The whole reason I'm upgrading is because I need a little more power when I'm running Photoshop or, occasionally, Premiere, and would just like a little more multi-tasking speed.
I figure I can get more bang for my buck with a desktop than a new laptop.
With Drive it's super easy to keep everything synced for when I need to use the laptop.
So, what desktop would you recommend for around $1200 (what I was budgeting for the laptop)?
I'm not interested in building something custom. I've looked at Dell & Lenovo.
What kind of specs should I be looking for in RAM, etc?
Are there any PC options that have a bit of visual style?
Any input is appreciated. Let me know if I'm crazy - does anyone other than an office minion even use a desktop anymore?
