Amazon is continuing its aggressive and far-reaching push into publishing today. The company just announced StoryFront, which it describes as "dedicated to high-quality short fiction for readers looking to discover new voices, experiment with genres, or find a great quick read." Prices for StoryFront stories range between 99 cents and $1.99. StoryFront will also be the "home" of Day One, the weekly literary journal that Amazon's publishing arm launched at the end of October. StoryFront will offer many of the stories found in Day One for a la carte purchase, including Sheila by Rebecca Adams Wright. Today it's launching with 43 stories by authors including William Lashner, Gemma Halliday, and John Connolly. With StoryFront, Amazon will also publish English-translated stories from around the world. The initial batch of works include selections from writers in Brazil. StoryFront joins 13 other existing imprints that are all under the Amazon Publishing umbrella.
