Sony Pictures Entertainment and Starz have extended their relationship with one each other for another five years, ensuring that Starz will have exclusive premium pay TV rights to broadcast Sony movies like The Amazing Spider-Man, Skyfall, and Zero Dark Thirty. The deal, which is now good through 2021, means that Netflix won't be able to offer Sony's movies through its streaming service, leaving customers with the option of DVD / Blu-ray rentals or nothing at all. It had been assumed that following Netflix's victory in obtaining a deal with Disney late last year, it would also pursue a similar agreement with Sony, though today's news more or less means that such a deal didn't happen.
