We've already heard that director Bryan Singer's upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past film would attempt to link the cast of 2011's X-Men: First Class with the characters we came to know and (mostly) love in the X-Men trilogy from the early 2000s. Now, it looks like Game of Thrones standout Peter Dinklage will be one of the key new faces in Singer's latest trip into the X-Men universe. Deadline reported last night that Dinklage would have a "key role," and Singer has since taken to Twitter to confirm Dinklage's involvement.
Officially like to welcome #PeterDinklage from #GameOfThrones to #XMEN #DaysofFuturePast Very very excited!

What hasn't been confirmed yet is what role Dinklage will play in the new movie — speculation so far has focused on the character Puck, most known for his role in the Alpha Fight series. Regardless of who he plays, there's no doubt that Dinklage is a capable actor who has definitely won over fantasy fans with his Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning performances as Tyrion Lannister. If Singer keeps signing on actors of his caliber, Days of Future Past could continue the revitalization of the X-Men film franchise that started with First Class.
