Sony Alpha Rumors has posted what it claims is the first image of Sony's new entry-level NEX-3N. The camera is set to replace the company's current "low-end" model, the NEX-F3, and will reportedly include the same 16-megapixel sensor as its predecessor. The major alteration we can see is the inclusion of a zoom control lever, which hints that Sony may bundle its 16-50mm power zoom lens with the camera, rather than the 18-55mm manual zoom lens included with the F3. If this image is accurate, it marks the first time that Sony has fitted a NEX camera with zoom controls, and we'd expect the feature to trickle up to Sony's more expensive cameras.

Other differences from the NEX-F3 include the apparent removal of the NEX-F3's expansion port — the fact that there's a flash key in the bottom left of the image suggests that the NEX-F3's integrated pop-up flash will be carried over, but NEX-3N users won't be able to use an external flash or mic. The playback button has also moved to the top of the device; it used to be situated next to the video record key. There aren't many details on the camera yet, but Sony Alpha Rumors speculates that Sony may announce the NEX-3N at its press event on February 20th. The company is expected to launch a next-gen console at the same event.
