Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has officially joined the board of Jawbone, reports All Things D. It's the company behind the sleep-logging Up fitness bracelet and Jambox portable wireless speakers, and with the addition of Mayer will be getting a well-regarded product person with strong ties to the Silicon Valley startup community.
Jawbone isn't the Yahoo CEO's only commitment outside of her day job
All Things D points out that Mayer, a former Google exec, attended Stanford University at the same time as Jawbone CEO Hosain Rahman, and the two have reportedly stayed close since. Jawbone isn't the Yahoo CEO's only commitment outside of her day job — she currently sits on the board of Walmart as well as those of several cultural institutions in New York and San Francisco, including the cities’ respective ballets, the National Design Museum, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. It’s obviously too early to speculate on any possible collaborations between Jawbone and Yahoo, but we’re intrigued by the possibilities.
