Rovio has just released Angry Birds Friends, a Facebook-ified version of its popular gaming franchise. Angry Birds Friends takes the tried-and-tested formula of the original Angry Birds game and adds a competitive social element, with users playing against their Facebook friends for "the title of ultimate pig popper and bird flinger." There are weekly tournaments, and elements taken from other popular Facebook titles like sending gifts and posting statuses. This is the eighth Angry Birds game on iOS (not including the spin-off Bad Piggies), and unlike the well-received Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of gameplay tweaks in this title. The game requires both a Facebook login and an internet connection to play, and is available as an ad-supported free download for iPhone and iPad in the App Store now.
