Prague plans subway carriages for singles to find love as they commute

Czech railway operator Ropid is considering introducing subway carriages for single people to get together in Prague. Ropid spokesperson Filip Drapal hopes the lure of finding love will get people out of their cars and onto Prague's public transport system. "We want to emphasize that public transport is not only a means of travel but that you can do things there that you cannot do in your car," he tells Reuters.

The company says it'll begin polling subway passengers soon to gauge how much interest there is in the concept. As long as there's sufficient enthusiasm, the singles' carriages could launch on some or all of the Prague subway system this year. If the plans do go ahead, it'll be interesting to see how many people make use of them: there aren't many social situations where people are willing to openly admit they're searching for a companion.
