Sony has confirmed it will release the PlayStation 4 in the UK by the end of the year. In a full-page advert in British newspaper Metro, the company teased the launch of its next-generation console by featuring its new DualShock 4 controller and the message "coming 2013." Today's announcement suggests it will embark on a worldwide launch during the holiday season, instead of limiting an initial release to US and Japanese markets like in previous years.
A Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesperson told The Verge: "We announced at the PlayStation Meeting event on Feb 20th that PS4 would be coming in 2013, the adverts are simply re-stating that message." The company also said it will provide more information on the PlayStation 4 and other PlayStation platforms at next month's E3 gaming exhibition in Los Angeles. Although Sony is yet to show off the console's design in full, it debuted a new teaser trailer ahead of Microsoft's Xbox One reveal, displaying glimpses of the hardware and urging viewers to tune in to its upcoming press event.
