Nintendo has just announced the newest entry in its chaotic series of fighting games — a new Super Smash Bros. will be coming to the Wii U and 3DS in 2014, and for the first time Mega Man will be a playable character. In addition to the Blue Bomber, the game will feature the standard array of Nintendo characters including Mario, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Pokemon, Kirby, Link, and more. It also looks like Villager from the Animal Crossing series will be a part of the game, but the inclusion of Mega Man is the big new draw here. Judging from the video Nintendo showed off, Mega Man will have access to the weapons of bosses from Mega Man 2 and a few other Mega Man games, at least — and he'll also be joined by his robot dog companion Rush. Unfortunately, Nintendo wasn't able to be more specific about a release date other than sometime in 2014.

Update: In addition to Villager and Mega Man, Nintendo revealed at its E3 Wii U software showcase that the Wii U Fit Trainer will also be a playable character in the new Super Smash Bros. It's a fairly hilarious and unusual addition, but it's in keeping with Nintendo's spirit of inclusion for this series — though it remains to be seen what her special power will be.
