Last night, at its E3 PlayStation keynote, Sony played a short clip of The Dark Sorcerer, a comedic video of a sorcerer and his goblin sidekick summoning a demon from the depths of hell. The video, now available on YouTube, is a technical demo built to show off the nearly photorealistic facial details, particle effects, flames, and water droplets that the PlayStation 4 is capable of delivering. It was produced for Sony by Quantic Dream, the studio behind Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

We don't want to give anything away, but the demo has a few gags and punchlines that provide ample opportunity to show off the level of definition that PS4 games will hopefully deliver. We first got a teaser of the demo back in February, during Sony's PS4 launch event. But back then, the sorcerer was shown as simply a creepy floating head. As of now, there are no plans to turn the demo into a full-fledged game.
