Little is known about the plot of the pilot or the series in general, not least how Agent Coulson, who appeared to die in The Avengers, is still alive and well and starring in a spin-off series. The trailer from the official series unveil back in May shows Coulson explaining SHIELD's purpose to a rookie agent, and also features actor J. August Richards, who starred in Whedon's Buffy spin-off Angel, as an unnamed superhero.
