Joss Whedon's 2002 TV series Firefly suffered an untimely fate, cancelled by Fox before its first season even finished airing — and fans have never really let it go. The franchise has flickered back to life a few times over the years, most notable in the 2005 film Serenity, and now Firefly fans will get another taste of the universe thanks to a new mobile game for iOS and Android. Announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Firefly Online the first officially-licensed video game set in the Firefly universe and, like nearly every mobile game out there, will include some social components. It sounds like the game will essentially let players assume a ship captain, hiring other crews and leading unspecified "missions" in competition against all the other players across the Firefly Verse. There aren't a lot of details quite yet, which makes sense given that the game isn't planned to launch until the summer of 2014. Until then, fans can check out the trailer below and keep up with the game's development over at its official site.
