Sprint announced its plans for its first Windows Phone 8 devices earlier this year. With the HTC 8XT already available, Sprint customers interested in Windows Phone were left waiting on Samsung's effort to launch. Sprint says the Ativ S Neo will now launch on August 16th, its second Windows Phone 8 handset so far. It's essentially a variant of the Samsung Ativ S that debuted shortly after the Windows Phone 8 launch in November. Samsung has swapped out the processor for a less powerful 1.4GHz dual-core version, but it still has a 4.8-inch display running at 720p resolution.
Although Samsung recently launched new Windows Phone 8 apps, there's nothing really unique about the Ativ S Neo given the previous variant. There's 16GB of storage on board, and a micro SD slot to extend the capacity. Samsung has kept the same 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. The Ativ S Neo will be made available online and in Sprint stores on August 16th with a two-year service agreement for $149.99, and a $50 mail-in rebate.
