Dave Eggers, the acclaimed author behind A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and A Hologram for the King, will release his latest novel, The Circle, this fall. The book will revolve around a fictional, but eerily familiar entity, "the Circle," which is described as "the world's most powerful internet company."

The Circle, run out of a sprawling California campus, links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.

Eggers' novel will follow Mae Holland, who joins the company as a new employee. Mae is initially thrilled by her new role at the Circle, and is left dazzled by the open-plan offices, on-campus amenities, and the range of activities on site, but as she becomes more involved, things, it would appear, go awry. The Circle is described as a "heart-racing novel of suspense, raising questions about memory, history, privacy, democracy, and the limits of human knowledge." Beyond the publisher's description, not much is known about The Circle, but it's set to launch October 8th.
