Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver changed sci-fi cinema forever in 1979 with Alien, and the duo will be working together to tell another epic tale. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Weaver has been cast in Exodus, Scott's Biblical film that will star Christian Bale as Moses. Weaver will be playing Tuya, the mother of Ramses (Joel Edgerton).
The film is scheduled to start shooting next month, but Weaver isn't the only bit of exciting last-minute casting news. Variety reports that Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul is also in negotiations to join the film as Joshua, the former slave that helps Moses, while John Turturro is already set to play Ramses' father. Deadline Hollywood rounds out the casting news with a report that Sir Ben Kingsley is in negotiations to play a scholar in the film. While the cast — and the prospect of Weaver and Scott working together again — is exciting unto itself, it's still no guarantee that the film will succeed. Many fans felt Prometheus didn't live up to expectations, and Scott's epic Kingdom of Heaven failed to impress audiences or critics — though the film's director's cut did address many of its issues.
