The Illume sports photography competition, held every three years by Red Bull, concluded earlier this year, and it's produced some fantastic work — the top 250 finalists are online here. The whole gallery is worth a look, but the "Sequential" category is particularly beautiful, capturing athletes in a series of photos and then combining them into one hypnotic image. It's an example of how manipulated photography can create a fuller picture of an event, especially something as dynamic as a biker's jump or a snowboarder's flip.
