Microsoft surprised gamers last month when it unveiled its plan to bundle a free copy of FIFA 14 with European Xbox One pre-orders. "All pre-orders for Xbox One this holiday will include a copy of FIFA 14 at no additional cost," said Microsoft's Phil Harrison at the time. "All pre-orders to date and while stocks last." Stock of the free digital download has nearly been fulfilled, and Microsoft is changing the goal posts.
Microsoft social marketing manager Graeme Boyd revealed on Twitter last week that the company is only gifting FIFA 14 for Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders. This particular edition has already sold out at Amazon, and it appears unless you were lucky enough to order the Day One Edition then you won't get a free copy of FIFA 14 despite Microsoft's previous promises that "all pre-orders of Xbox One will ship with FIFA 14 in Europe."
Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last.

Forza 5 replaces FIFA 14 in the UK for new pre-orders
Microsoft confirmed the changes in an email to The Verge. "Due to unprecedented demand, the Xbox One Day One Edition with FIFA 14 is nearly sold out, but is still available at certain retailers," says a Microsoft spokesperson. The company is making another pre-order bundle available in the UK, with Forza Motorsport 5 replacing FIFA 14 for new pre-orders. "These are only on pre-orders for the Day One Edition bundle which are in limited supply at selected retailers in the UK," says the spokesperson. We've asked Microsoft whether Forza 5 will also be offered in other European countries, and we'll update you accordingly.
The latest change comes just weeks after Microsoft revealed it's delaying the European launch of the Xbox One until 2014 in eight countries. Microsoft has also previously reversed its online check and used games policies, and even clarified that the Xbox One no longer requires Kinect to be plugged in.
