Following Intel's announcement that it's phasing out the McAfee branding from its antivirus software, John McAfee tells Reuters he's glad the company made the decision. In a telephone interview with the news agency, McAfee is quoted as saying, "I've been begging them to drop the brand or fix the product," adding that he regrets the software currently has his name. "I am who I am. I'm sorry I live on the edge and enjoy life and don't care what people think of me."

The eccentric businessman hasn't shied away from airing his feelings about the software in recent years. After his arrest in Belize in relation to a murder led to a media frenzy, McAfee decided the best course of action was to release a tawdry video mocking the media for portraying him as unhinged. The video, titled "How To Uninstall McAfee Antivirus" saw him shooting a computer while surrounded by half-naked women and drugs. Understandably, that's not exactly the image Intel wants to associate itself with, so it looks like both parties are coming away happy from this breakup.
