    Venus of Willendorf (1963)
The Venus of Willendorf is best known to the academy as a limestone figurine from the Paleolithic period. Zero founder Otto Piene's Venus was "painted" using a circle of varnish he set on fire, a practice he helped pioneer as a way of experimenting with how art is made. © Otto Piene
