Speedrunning is when someone plays through a video game as fast as possible, often with the hope of setting a new record. Though a speedrunner can beat a game in a fraction of the time it takes the average player, he or she hones that skill by practicing for days, weeks, months, or even years. Instead of playing many games a little amount of time, a speedrunner may play one game a lot.
What's amazing about this video isn't that the speedrunner Karl Jobst can beat Goldeneye, Super Mario 64, or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in under an hour. No, what's amazing is Jobst can beat all three games, alternating between one and another in moments of downtime, in that comparably short amount of time.
Watch Jobst blast through months of our shared childhood in 51 minutes.
