Lenovo and Ashton Kutcher made a tablet together, and there's a projector inside

The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is coming this month for $499.99

Lenovo has just unveiled the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, a 13-inch tablet the company created with input from Ashton Kutcher. (Did you forget that Kutcher joined Lenovo's ranks as a product engineer last year?) It's been "designed from the ground up specifically for digitally-hungry consumers," and that explains its standout feature: a built-in pico projector. Lenovo and Kutcher paired up to make a projector tablet optimized for media consumption.

The company says you'll be able to project a 16:9 image onto any surface for "an instant 50-inch theater experience" that lasts for up to three hours on a charge. So you should be covered for most Netflix movies. And since sound plays no small role in media consumption, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro claims to quadruple "the speaker power of an average tablet" with 8 watts of sound thanks to dual front speakers and a subwoofer.

If you prefer to watch on the screen directly, you'll be met with a QHD 2560x1440 display and up to 15 hours of battery life. Aside from its projector trick, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has also been designed with a new "Hang" software mode in mind. Apparently Lenovo envisions some customers hanging it up on the wall — which could prove handy for cooking, or maybe putting it in an office somewhere.

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Pro

Everywhere else, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is your typical Atom-powered Android tablet. It comes with 32GB of storage and supports up to 64GB through microSD, houses an 8-megapixel camera, and can optionally be purchased with 4G connectivity. You'll be able to buy Ashton's creation for yourself at the end of October from Lenovo's website starting at $499.99. But if 13 inches strikes you as too big, Lenovo has also updated the rest of its tablet line with all-new 8- and 10-inch sizes. For the first time, these models can optionally be purchased with Windows instead of Android 4.4. (Sadly the same can't be said for the Kutcher-designed Pro model.) The 10-inch Windows Yoga Tablet 2 will be available from Best Buy this month for $399.99, but you'll need to order the other options — which start at $249.99 — online.
