Even under new ownership, Motorola is staying true to its reputation for speedy Android updates. Today the company announced that it's in the process of rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop for two devices: the Moto X Pure Edition and second-gen Moto G. For the Moto G, this update will be available for GSM models sold in the United States. If you've got a carrier-branded Moto X or one of Moto's older smartphones, you've still got a bit longer to wait. "We’re working hard with our carrier partners to bring this update to more of our devices as soon as we can," Motorola said in a blog post. The full list of Motorola phones due to receive Lollipop can be found here.

Even so, that's impressive timing on Motorola's part. The company boasts that these updates have arrived "just a week after the public release" of Android 5.0. Even some of Google's own Nexus devices have yet to receive the latest software. Other manufacturers including HTC and LG have indicated they plan to release the latest version of Android in the coming weeks.
