Even if you're not in London, you'll now have the chance to easily see some of the best performances of Shakespeare out there. Shakespeare's Globe has just launched an on-demand service offering filmed versions of over 50 productions, which are being made available to rent and buy. The Globe says that it's "the first theatre in the world to be able to offer this kind of on-demand platform," which it's calling the Globe Player. The videos are available worldwide, though some more recent productions may not be available in all areas if they're still screening in local movie theaters.

The films are available to rent from around £2.99 to £3.99 (about $4.79 to $6.39) and to buy from around £4.99 to £7.99 ($7.99 to $12.79). The productions aren't all in English either: a number of foreign language productions put on at the Globe are also available to buy and rent, making this service's offerings larger than you might expect. There's a bit of free content on Globe Player too, including interviews with actors including Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Ewan McGregor, and James Earl Jones.
