Next-gen neck stabbing

The Last of Us is an incredible game, a dark and surprisingly touching story about life in a post-apocalyptic world, co-starring one of the best female video game characters in years. With the remastered version on PS4, the developers at Naughty Dog managed to make that world feel even more real, thanks to more detailed visuals and improved animations. And if there's one thing a personal, human story like that needs, it's more ways to kill — and now you can buy some for only $0.99 a piece.

As part of a new wave of downloadable content for the game's multiplayer mode, Naughty Dog is releasing typical add-ons like new weapons and clothing options for the game. But you can also buy new animations — which the studio describes as "very visceral, very lethal Special Executions" — that simply provide some visual variety for all of the murdering you'll be doing. According to Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli, the new animations weren't included in the original version of the game due to technical issues. "We had to exclude some sets from the PS3 version of the game due to memory constraints on the hardware," he writes on the PlayStation blog.

Nothing says next-gen like more realistic neck stabbing.
