Wired has a lengthy report about how a sailing drone may change ocean research in years to come. Affectionately named Honey Badger, the robot was designed by the two-man engineering outfit Saildrone, and is able to capture wind energy to skim across the ocean and maintain its course without needing a crew. It proved its mettle by sailing from San Francisco to Hawaii in a record 34 days. Saildrone now hopes that the technology used by the Honey Badger might one day be used for fleets of seafaring drones. You can read the full story at Wired.
