President Barack Obama is the latest guest on Zach Galifianakis' spoof chat show Between Two Ferns. In a six-minute clip posted to Funny or Die, the pair trade insults about Galifianakis' weight, Obama's "missing" birth certificate, Bradley Cooper, and the Affordable Care Act.
"I wouldn't be with you here today if I didn't have something to plug" says Obama, introducing Healthcare.gov. "That's the thing that didn't work?" asks Galifianakis. "Why would you get the guy that created the Zune to make your website?" Elsewhere in the episode, Galifianakis asks important questions on the "North IKEA" situation, queries Obama's decision to hire Dennis Rodman as an ambassador to the country, and exposes the secret location where Between Two Ferns is filmed.
Update: President Obama's staffers have said the goal of his unconventional appearance on Between Two Ferns was to boost HealthCare.gov visits ahead of the March 31st cutoff for 2014 coverage. And the strategy appears to be working. According to Tara McGuiness, a senior communications advisor at the White House, Funny Or Die is now the leading source of referrals to HealthCare.gov.
http://t.co/FrO24hdvcA is the #1 source of referrals to http://t.co/0r93BavlrV right now.
