Verge staffers aren't just people who love technology. They're people who love stuff. We spend as much time talking and thinking about our favorite books, music, and movies as we do debating the best smartphone to buy or what point-and-shoot has the tightest macro. We thought it would make sense to share our latest obsessions with Verge readers, and we hope you're encouraged to share your favorites with us. Thus a long, healthy debate will ensue where we all end up with new things to read, listen to, or try on.
Margon’s Cuban Sandwich | ![]() |
---|
![]() | A couple of months ago, Thomas Houston invited me out to lunch, claiming he knew where to get the best Cuban sandwich in New York. Now I am not experienced in Cuban cuisine, but my disdain for midtown Manhattan made it hard for me to believe him. I was so incredibly wrong. Margon is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant on the outskirts of Times Square that makes one of the greatest sandwiches I have ever feasted upon. The pork, ham, and salami, covered in melted swiss cheese, pickles, smeared with mustard, mayo, and secret garlicky sauce, all pressed between hot, crispy bread, is the sandwich I would want if I was on death row. Or if someone just wanted to buy me lunch.

'Threes' | ![]() |

![]() | A few weeks ago, I mastered Flappy Bird. With 113, I had the highest score in the Verge office. Unfortunately none of that mattered the following week because everyone was on to Threes, a minimalist Sudoku-looking mobile game that is insanely addictive. It’s relaxing, simple, and makes subway rides fly by. Be warned; once you begin playing Threes you will see those tiles sliding together in your sleep.

'Nathan for You' | ![]() |
---|
![]() | Yes, the show has my name in the title and yes, that may have been the initial reason I was drawn to it, but that has nothing to do with the fact that Nathan for You on Comedy Central is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. The show premiered its first season last year, but most people didn’t catch it — Comedy Central saw its potential and picked it up for a second season set for this summer. If you enjoyed the show’s star Nathan Fielder setting up a Dumb Starbucks in LA, I highly recommend checking out the side-splittingly funny first season. One of the highlights was him convincing a yogurt shop to sell [poo flavored yogurt].

Manis | ![]() |

![]() | Last week, I got my first manicure. I’m not ashamed of it. In fact, it was one of the most pleasant experiences I’ve had in a long time. If you have never taken care of your cuticles before, be warned, you may be berated for your lack of upkeep. However, once that’s over, it ends up becoming an incredibly relaxing time. Hand massages are very underrated — treat yourself and don’t look back.

'Midnite Vultures' | ![]() |
---|
![]() | I am not a good dancer, but that doesn’t stop me from swaying and contorting my body in painfully awkward ways when the right music comes on. It’s not a pretty sight, but it’s one that happens when I listen to Midnite Vultures. Whether it’s the groove-inducing horns on "Sexx Laws" that score my walks to get food or the sultry sounds of the Prince-inspired "Debra" that serenade me on a nighttime commute home, Beck’s album always puts me in a great mood. And what better time to listen to it than now? Beck’s 12th studio album was just released last month.
