The first proper US trailer for Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer is here, and just like the red band version that came before, it's very good. After its international release nearly a year ago, the film is finally nearing its United States debut. Snowpiercer will have its first North American screening on June 11th at the Los Angeles Film Festival. It will premiere in theaters just over two weeks later on June 27th. Based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, Joon-ho's adaptation follows the survivors of a botched global warming experiment responsible for wiping out most of Earth's population. Now the world is frozen over, with its remaining inhabitants stuck inside a massive train that endlessly runs along a globe-spanning track.
There's a large wedge between the wealthy and have-nots, with privileged riders occupying the train's luxurious front section and everyday passengers restricted to the back. That's where we find Captain America star Chris Evans, who is determined to change the order of things — by force. The film co-stars Jamie Bell and Tilda Swinton, who portrays a highbrow braggart intent on keeping this ruthless class system intact at all costs.
