If there's one thing everyone should be able to appreciate about hip hop, it's the incredible lyricism demonstrated by the many of the greatest MCs around. But just how diverse are the lyrics of popular hip hop acts? Designer and data scientist Matt Daniels decided to take a look by analyzing the first 35,000 lyrics from individual artists and hip hop groups to see just how many different words they're using. He then plotted the artists on a scale alongside none other than William Shakespeare. The Wu-Tang Clan makes a particularly impressive showing, both as a group and its associated solo careers, but Aesop Rock is literally off the chart. Be sure to check the full chart and analysis over at Matt Daniels' website.
