Given how massive the Pokémon universe has gotten in the past 18 years, it should come as no surprise that Pokémon fill a number of important roles for the people in their lives. Some provide modes of transit. Others are pets. Most are capable of fighting on some level. But something that's overlooked in the story is where people in the Poké-verse get their food. As Modern Farmer argues, "Simply put, it is a fact that people eat Pokémon." It makes sense if you think about it. Slowpoke tails, for instance, are considered a high-class delicacy in Lumiose City, one of the major cities in Pokemon X & Y. Of course, the ethics of Pokémon consumption is complicated in the game's world, even if you've never noticed it before. Read more of Modern Farmer's convincing argument here.
