What if a series like G.I. Joe or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles took place beyond time, space, and all sanity? Kids of the '80s might at that point have bought action figures something like what indie toymaker Warpo wants to create. The "Legends of Cthulhu" line of toys, which the company is funding with a Kickstarter campaign, is a set of four figures designed like the toys from the '80s and all inspired by the work of occult author H.P. Lovecraft.
Each of the four figures, including a Cultist and the spawn of the Great Old One Cthulhu himself, has articulating limbs and packaging inspired by the toys of the time. Warpo even took the extra care to give the packaging and their accompanying materials, even featuring art by classic fantasy artist Ken Kelly. (Kelly famously painted cover art for Conan the Barbarian and album covers for KISS). The campaign has so far pulled in more than $20,000, a third of its $60,000 goal, so Warpo seems poised to tear back the thin veil of sanity dividing our worlds.
