Renaissance paintings come to life as animated GIFs

It seems you can make a killer GIF out of just about anything — even Renaissance art. James Kerr, an artist specializing in collage, has steadily filled up his "Scorpion Dagger" Tumblr with delightfully odd and playful animated GIFs over the years. For Monty Python fans, his work will be clearly reminiscent of Terry Gilliam's animations both in their visual style and quirky humor, but the classic artwork used in Kerr's pieces give the GIFs their own distinctive flavor. The sheer diversity of animations is truly impressive — as is the creativity on display. Kerr's put together quite the collection, so be sure to check out his Tumblr blog for even more.
