Variety reports that Jason Momoa has officially signed on to play Aquaman in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The news has seemed like a foregone conclusion for a little while now; Momoa has reportedly been in talks to join the cast as long ago as late last year. Warner Bros. has not yet made an official confirmation, however.

Momoa, best known for his turn as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, will join Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot as one of the many superheroes in the film whenever the news is verified. Given how the character was reimagined in the comics recently — Aquaman is not in the least afraid of blood — he seems like a pretty appropriate choice.

Update 1:20pm ET: The Variety report stating Jason Momoa officially signed on for the film is from June, and no confirmation has been made in the weeks since. We're sorry for the error, and we've updated to post to reflect our mistake.
