LCD Soundsystem, the punk-electronic dance band helmed by singer-songwriter James Murphy, broke up in 2011, but Murphy has been occupying his time with various side projects ever since. Now he's teamed up with IBM to orchestrate the US Open, working with developer Patrick Gunderson of digital production company Tool to automate electronic-music algorithms that create sounds based on data from the matches. Every match so far has a beat, and it'll continue until the Open ends on September 8th. The results are gorgeous but ambient, although Murphy will apparently be remixing them into something more tuneful soon.
