A small group of protesters hit Apple's event in Cupertino with large signs decrying the company's tax avoidance strategies and the wages it pays blue-collar workers. Photos and videos from the events showed about 10 people behind a barricade shouting anti-Apple chants to the gathering press. "Apple, Apple, you're no good," said one person with a bullhorn. Another sign promoted the Green Party.
Last year, a Senate subcommittee held a hearing on the strategies that Apple and many other large corporations use to move their profits offshore to avoid US taxes. Apple was widely criticized at the time, though tax experts said the company was following standard corporate practices.
