It's amazing how music originally played on tinny, 8-bit synthesizers scales up perfectly to fit the massive, rich sound of a full orchestra and choir. The performance above from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is a case in point. Okay, so it's basically an extended advert for the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes game for Nintendo's 3DS, but it sounds absolutely magnificent.

The music includes snatches of the original Zelda theme as well as excerpts from the Tri Force Heroes soundtrack. It's being performed by the Zelda Symphony orchestra, which is currently touring the US and Europe through 2016 with the concert program Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses. It's nice to see Colbert continuing to incorporate gamer culture into his Late Show, with this performance following on the heels of Sean Murray's appearance (of No Man’s Sky fame), and an interview with Felix Kjellberg aka PewDiePie.
