Despite recent setbacks, Google seems to be charging ahead with Project Wing, its drone-based delivery service. A new video by Aaref Hilaly of Sequoia Capital shows one of the Google X initiative's drones dropping off a package and flying off:

Hilaly says that Google promises the drones can travel five miles in five minutes.
Google X launched Project Wing last summer, mirroring Amazon's own drone delivery efforts from months earlier. However, Google wanted to focus the drones on disaster relief, with the UAVs flying supplies out to those in need during emergency situations. It's so far been unclear when the project would get off the ground, with the company having the deal with regulatory hurdles and failed designs, but Google seems committed to having a fleet ready whenever the federal government rules in its favor.
