HTC is holding a press event today in which the company is widely expected to launch its new hero smartphone: the One A9. Although we don't know anything official about the A9 (sometimes codenamed "Aero"), information about the handset has not so much been leaking, as flooding onto the internet. If these leaks are to be believed, the mid-range A9's standout feature is a remarkable similarity to Apple's iPhone, with the same curved, aluminum unibody design, oblong SIM and microSD trays, and plastic antenna lines.
Of course, HTC fans will rightly point out that Apple copied plenty of design cues from HTC in the first place, but looking like an iPhone might not be all bad. As The Verge's Vlad Savov has pointed out, perhaps the best way to compete with the iPhone is simply to build one. After all, plenty of Android fans are admirers of Apple's design, even if they prefer Google's mobile OS. For now, though, we just have to wait until 12PM ET to see what HTC has come up with.
