All the best apocalypses: a retrospective from the end of the universe

NASA

Our next few hours could be our last, at least according to one religious group. A Christian organization called the e-Bible Fellowship has crunched the numbers and concluded that October 7th, 2015 will usher in the apocalypse — or, as leader Chris McCann puts it, "[Earth]’ll be gone forever. Annihilated."

This sounds like bad news, but the the obliteration of Earth is old hat. Everyone from Isaac Newton to Jerry Falwell has put forward a date for the end of the world, whether it will come through floods, fire, or alien invasion. There are far too many to list here, but with contributed reports from our atemporal multiverse alternates, we're taking this chance to commemorate some of our favorite times the world came to an end.
