What do you do when your guests of honor — Paul McCartney, George Clooney, Pope Francis — are snowed out of your glitzy, old-fashioned holiday special? If you're Bill Murray, it means settling for a motley crew of lesser lights and popping a few bottles of champagne. Murray and Sofia Coppola have been working on a Christmas special for well over a year, and A Very Murray Christmas is just about ready to come out of the oven.
The streaming service released the special's first full trailer this afternoon (teasers landed in May and October), and it offers the longest look yet at Murray's attempt to cobble together a decent evening from the ruins of his Christmas extravaganza at New York's Carlyle Hotel. Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, and Rashida Jones all happened to be hanging around; Miley Cyrus doesn't mind chipping in a performance; Clooney gets there somehow despite the terrible weather. Michael Cera lands a wicked crack about The Monuments Men. It might not be the Christmas Murray wanted — there's still no Pope, after all — but it doesn't seem so bad, right? At least he's getting a novelty single out of it.
A Very Murray Christmas premieres on Netflix on December 4th.
