Stop-motion studio Laika is heading into a world of adventure for its next film. The animation house behind Paranorman and The Boxtrolls just released a new trailer for the upcoming Kubo and the Two Strings, which swaps its trademark dark modern setting for a fantasy world complete with samurais and dragons. Laika describes the movie as "a sweeping, swashbuckling adventure set in a mythical ancient Japan."
It looks as gorgeous as you'd expect from the studio, and features a solid voice cast as well, including Charlize Theron, George Takei, Rooney Marra, and Matthew McConaughey. It'll also mark the directorial debut of Travis Knight, who previously served as lead animator on all three of the Laika's previous films. Kubo and the Two Strings is coming to theaters on August 16th, 2016.
