It happens to be Taylor Swift's birthday, but she's the one in the gift giving mood. Today, the singer announced that she's releasing the film documenting her 1989 World Tour exclusively on Apple Music. Directed by On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay Z director Jonas Akerlund, the film features performances from the likes of Selena Gomez, John Legend, Fetty Wap, and other artists not (yet) in Swift's squad. The documentary will launch on December 20th, just in time for Christmas.

The 1989 World Tour started back in May and ended only yesterday, so the timing is all too perfect. The choice to release the film to Apple Music subscribers is certainly a shrewd one, too. Swift and Apple have fostered a strategic relationship since she publicly denounced the company's treatment of indie artists last summer. Now, the company has a powerful way to improve its subscriber base right in the middle of the holiday season.
