Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are in talks with Sony to board the upcoming sci-fi drama Passengers, Variety reports. Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) is in talks to direct.

The film, penned by Doctor Strange writer Jon Spaihts, is a love story set on a spaceship journeying to a new planet. The ship's passengers are all in a cryogenic sleep, except for the film's romantic leads, who both wake up during the trip.

Still speculative

As of now, this is all still speculation. Passengers has been in development for years and has yet to lock down its leads. Back in 2013, Rachel McAdams and Keanu Reeves were the movie's rumored stars, with Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk at the helm. Reese Witherspoon was in talks with the studio before that. All three actors have since dropped off.

Lawrence and Pratt both have releases set for later this year. Lawrence will appear in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 while Pratt will star in Jurassic World.
