Curious to see what PlayStation's first original series is like? The first episode of Powers is now available on YouTube in its entirety.
Based on a graphic novel of the same name, Powers stars Sharlto Copley (District 9) and Susan Heyward as homicide detectives who specialize on superpower-related incidents. The show also stars Eddie Izzard, and there's a bizarre cameo from Mario Lopez as host of a bizarro version of Extra that cares about superpower-related crimes and investigations.
This is the first scripted original series for PlayStation, and it follows in the footsteps of rival Microsoft, who late last year debuted its own Xbox original series based, Halo: Nightfall.
The special effects budget is on par with a SyFy show back when the network was still called Sci-Fi, and given the use of Orgy's "Blue Monday" as the theme song, I'd place this show around 1998 / 1999. All sass aside, we're still watching the episode, but reviews of the series so far have been pretty critical. If you've got 53 minutes, find out for yourself.
