The Simpsons has honored Sam Simon, the series' co-creator, writer, and producer, after he died of colon cancer on March 9th. Sunday night's episode of the show ended with a short clip of Simon describing the purity of creativity, and closed on the words "Thank you, Sam." Simon, who was 59 when he died, received his diagnosis in 2012. He dedicated his $100 million fortune to charity and spent the last few years working with a number of groups, including his own Sam Simon Foundation.
