Vine for iOS will now preload videos for you to watch while offline

Vine doesn't want to leave you waiting for something to watch, so it's rolling out an update today that's meant to make its iOS app faster when starting up and work while offline. The update will allow Vine to download videos even when the app is closed. Vine's using this so that videos will be ready to go as soon as you open the app, even if you don't have an internet connection.

Videos will preload from your main feed and from Vine's explore section. That will likely eat up more of your data, but it's meant to only occur if you're a regular user — you may end up having to dig into iOS' background app refresh settings if that doesn't work out. Today's update also rolls out a smaller video size for people on slower connections. Vine plans to bring the update to Android soon.
