For April Fools' Day, artist and advertisement designer Julien Knez created a handful of VHS covers for modern television shows. Speaking with Buzzfeed, Knez said, "I created them for April Fools' Day, pretending I was a Parisian hipster named Stan who only watched modern TV and movies on VHS."
Knez told The The Verge that creating each VHS cover took an hour in Photoshop. His favorites are the covers for Games of Thrones and Interstellar.
The VHS covers aren't just photoshops. Knez has photographs of the Gravity, Game of Thrones, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Guardians of the Galaxy sleeves inside of actual VHX boxes, the latter resting on a classic VHS player. What stands out about the designs is Knez's attention to detail. The Walking Dead VHS only features the first two episodes, because of a VHS tape's limited space. On the Game of Thrones cover, an orange bubble promises "Previews of other hit movies."
