Hulu has confirmed that it will be the exclusive online home of Seinfeld. All nine seasons of the series will be available on Hulu starting this June. That's a big grab for Hulu — Seinfeld is a perennial rerun favorite — and it's an obvious match to Netflix's acquisition of the streaming rights to Friends. The news was first reported last night in Variety and Deadline, citing the deal at around $130 million to $180 million. "You could have put the DVD in, but I guess nobody wanted to do that," Jerry Seinfeld said at an event in New York this morning. "They want to do this."

"Now you will see the full thing as Larry and I cut it."

Seinfeld said that Hulu will be running the full-length NBC versions of his show — not the sped up or re-edited versions that may be airing as reruns on TV right now. "Now you will see the full thing as Larry and I cut it in the ’90s as we thought it was best," Seinfeld said. Speaking to the audience, Seinfeld came off as excited to have his show online, where younger viewers may be finding it for the first time. "I know from having kids it's the only way they're gonna watch it," he said.

Hulu is going after new content as well. At its event, Hulu also announced that it had entered into a deal with AMC to be the exclusive streaming home of every show it makes over the next several years. The deal includes series produced by AMC for AMC's networks, though it wasn't stated exactly how long it will run for. That means it won't have hits like Mad Men and Breaking Bad, but it will get Fear the Walking Dead and whatever else comes after it. Given that AMC has been one of the best networks around in recent years when it comes to TV shows, it's a solid bet for Hulu to make.
