George R.R. Martin certainly has a lot on his plate these days. Entertainment Weekly reports and The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the A Song of Ice and Fire author is in the process of developing a second HBO series. Called Captain Cosmos, the series will tell the story of a visionary sci-fi writer telling stories in 1949's nascent television landscape.
The news comes just weeks before the fifth season of Game of Thrones begins, and might make the author's famously impatient fans testy about his ability to finish his saga sooner rather than later. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss stated recently that the show will need to start spoiling the books, an admission that likely created some anxiety among longtime fans. Martin, for his part, isn't all that concerned with spoilers, but he has stepped back from writing for the show's next season to focus on the upcoming novel, The Winds of Winter. He even released a new chapter starring Sansa Stark this week.
